The Technical Commission inside Cortexa, which met for a discussion on the case, concludes that the cladding, positioned on the structural facade below the decorative one and laterally, has performed its protective function, preventing the spread of the fire and thus avoiding a potentially very important epilogue. more serious.
The fire that hit the facade of the Milan skyscraper known as "Torre dei Moro" was not powered by the external insulation system, nor did it affect it. This is the conclusion of the Cortexa Technical Commission, the associative project that since 2007 has included the main producers of External Thermal Insulation Systems in Italy.
"The images show how the coat, present on the external envelope of the building, underneath the decorative external" sails "that are burned, prevented the spread of the fire, playing a central role in the protection of the facade." Cortexa experts say. "Pending the results of the official investigations, which will be able to ascertain what really happened, we can hypothesize that if the outer walls of the skyscraper had not been present, the epilogue would have been different".
“Coat, sandwich, ventilated facade, cladding: in recent days everything has been said and read. Having confused these concepts, which indicate very different materials and functions, generated a dangerous wave of disinformation. " Cortexa experts explain. “Cortexa was born with the mission of guaranteeing correct information on the external insulation system for the entire supply chain. We therefore want to reassure professionals and individuals with an irrefutable message: a certified, well-designed and state-of-the-art cladding system does not burn or spread a fire, but instead represents an excellent protection of the building envelope, even from fire ".
Cortexa expresses its closeness to the inhabitants of "Torre dei Moro" and makes its knowledge of the external insulation system available to the officially involved actors - planners, administrations, ministries, firefighters - and to all those who, although not operating in the world construction, wish to deepen the issue.
Cortexa, the associative project born in 2007 and Italian reference for the External Thermal Insulation System - of which IVAS is one of the founding members - brings together the most important companies in the External Thermal Insulation sector in Italy, companies that have believed in the strength of a common and who share the same philosophy of attention and priority for the quality of construction while respecting the environment. Since 2007, the companies belonging to Cortexa have been sharing the knowledge and experience gained by protagonists in the external insulation system sector, developing information and training projects and initiatives aimed at conveying, disseminating and sharing the culture of external insulation and quality construction. Cortexa is a founding member of EAE, the European Association of External Thermal Insulation Systems Manufacturers.
